Here you can find a list of all the parish councillors, along with their responsibilities as councillors. To contact any parish councillor, you can contact the clerk on clerk@southtawtonparishcouncil.org.uk or 07543 443819. Alternatively, all parish councillor contact details are listed on contact sheets on noticeboards in the parish council. Below is also a list of other elected representatives for the area and links to how to contact them. The register of interests of parish councillors will also be included once we have received the data from the Monitoring Officer at West Devon Borough Council.
Elected representatives for the area are:
Mel Stride MP - Mel represents the constituency of Central Devon in the House of Commons. Follow the link to find contact details and more information.
Councillor Sue Davies - Sue Davies represents the ward of Hatherleigh and Chagford on Devon County Council.
Lynn Daniel - Lynn represents the ward of South Tawton on West Devon Borough Council.
The Register of Interests for the parish councillors will be uploaded following successful induction of all new councillors.
SOUTH TAWTON PARISH COUNCIL
NOTICE OF VACANCY
TO BE FILLED BY CO-OPTION
Anyone who is qualified to be a South Tawton Parish councillor is invited to put their name forward by completing the Co-Option Application Form and sending it to the Clerk using the details below.
Qualifications to be a Councillor
· A person is qualified to be a councillor if they are a British, Commonwealth, Irish or European Union citizen and 18 or over.
In addition, the person must meet at least one of the following criteria
1) be on the electoral register for the parish, or
2) during the whole of the twelve months, they have owned or tenanted land or premises in the parish, or
3) during the whole of the twelve months before their principal or only place of work has been in the parish, or
4) during the whole of the twelve months before they have resided in the parish or within three miles of it.
Except for qualification (1), these qualifications then continue for the full term of office, until the next ordinary elections. Certain people are disqualified from standing, and these include paid officers (including the Clerks) of the council, bankrupts and those subject to recent sentences of imprisonment.
